Fresh from their 3rd place victory in the recently concluded Asian Football Federation Cup in Nepal, Philippine Azkals and Meralco Loyola Sparks superstars Phil and James Younghusband will continue their momentum in the EVIA Soccer Field, Las Pinas City on Saturday, March 24, as they, together with the One Meralco Foundation, champion football to 60 boys and girls from Manila Boystown.
A product of the first collaboration of One Meralco Foundation and The Younghusband Football Academy, this Saturday’s activity intends to teach these kids the basic football skills, drills, rules and techniques as well as inculcate the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline.
Partnering with different sports-oriented organizations such as The Younghusband Football Academy, One Meralco Foundation, as part of its advocacy on youth development, promotes sports as a highly effective tool in developing the capabilities of the youth especially those who are disadvantaged.
“We, in One Meralco Foundation, believe that today’s youth are energized to take part in our countryís future. By engaging them in something they enjoy to do such as sports, they will gain greater self-confidence, excel in this sport and bring pride to the country in their time,” said Jeffrey Tarayao, President of One Meralco Foundation and Chief CSR Officer of Meralco.
